The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 The others suggested holding Moses and his brother off and sending to all the cities 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 Will you punish us just because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Shower us with perseverance and cause us to die as those who have submitted [to You].' 126
