۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the worse losers, 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
