Al-Najm 3 of 3
(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
