Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In high empyrean 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
