Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 And He will add unto you riches and children and will appoint unto you gardens and will appoint unto you rivers. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
