Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. 8 We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." 14 And as for the Qasitun (disbelievers who deviated from the Right Path), they shall be firewood for Hell, 15 If they (non-Muslims) had believed in Allah, and went on the Right Way (i.e. Islam) We should surely have bestowed on them water (rain) in abundance. 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
