In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or increase a little upon it, and recite the Qur’an slowly in stages. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
