The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 Drop down on us lumps from heaven, if you are one of the truthful' 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they called him a liar, so the punishment of the day of covering overtook them; surely it was the punishment of a grievous day. 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
