Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 Surely we have to go back to our Lord." 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
