The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
