The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
