The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
