The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
