The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
