And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
