The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
