The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a Great Day? 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Not at all - but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
