The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who range themselves in ranks, 1 by those who drive away the devil (to protect Our revelation), 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth, and of what between them is Lord of the Easts. 5 We have adorned the lowest heaven with the beauty of the planets; 6 (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, 7 they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, 8 Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment, 9 but if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge,] he is [henceforth] pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay. 11 Nay, thou marvellest; and they scoff 12 And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,- 13 And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, 14 and say: "This is clearly nothing but [a mortal's] spellbinding eloquence! 15 When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 16 Or our fathers of yore? 17 Tell them: “Yes; and you are utterly helpless (against Allah).” 18 The Day of Judgment will come within a single roar and they will remain gazing at it. 19 They will say, "Woe to us! This is the Day of Reckoning." 20 This is the Day of Judgment in which you disbelieved. 21
