And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
