Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
