He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attend to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
