The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 that hide, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
