Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They slept little in the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
