No! By the moon 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning for people -- 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 about the guilty ones: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until death approached us". 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
