The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
