Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
