The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
