The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
