And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of Allah [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within Allah 's land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment. 73 "And remember how He made you inheritors after the 'Ad people and gave you habitations in the land: ye build for yourselves palaces and castles in (open) plains, and carve out homes in the mountains; so bring to remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah, and refrain from evil and mischief on the earth." 74 Said the Council of those of his people who waxed proud to those that were abased, to those of them who believed, 'Do you know that Salih is an Envoy from his Lord?' They said, 'In the Message he has been sent with we are believers.' 75 [But] the arrogant ones said: "Behold, what you have come to believe in we refuse to regard as true!" 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the command of their Lord and said, “O Saleh! Bring upon us what you promise us, if you are a Noble Messenger.” 77 Then the earthquake overtook them, so they became motionless bodies in their abode. 78 And Salih left them, saying: 'O my people! I conveyed to you the message of my Lord and gave you good advice; but you have no liking for your well-wishers.' 79 And We sent Lut, when he said unto his people: commit ye an indecency wherewith none hath preceded you in the worlds? 80 In preference to women you satisfy your lust with men. Indeed you are a people who are guilty of excess." 81 Their only answer was: 'Banish them from your town. They are a people who pretend to be pure.' 82 But we saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who legged behind. 83 and We rained down upon them a rain. So look how was the end of the evildoers. 84
