Hizb 46
< random >
Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 Now, ask them, has your Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
