The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
