The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
