The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
