The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Praise belongs to Allah who has sent down the Book to His worshiper (Prophet Muhammad) and has not made any crookedness in it, 1 Immutable, so that it may warn of a severe punishment from Him; and give happy tidings to those who believe and do the right that there is a better reward (of Paradise) for them, 2 Staying in it for ever; 3 And that it may warn those who say: God hath taken a son. 4 (A thing) whereof they have no knowledge, nor (had) their fathers, Dreadful is the word that cometh out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. 7 And most surely We will make what is on it bare ground without herbage. 8 Did you know that the People of the Cave and People close to the Woods, were Our exceptional signs? 9 [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." 10 Then We smote their ears many years in the Cave. 11 Then roused them to ascertain which of the two groups could account for the period they had stayed. 12
