Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
