The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
