The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
