The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
