(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
