The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
