The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
