The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 The rising dawn, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
