The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A Register inscribed. 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
