The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 full of love, well-matched 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
