The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
