So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
