The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord would you then deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
