The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
