The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
