And indeed, We delivered the children of Israel from the shameful suffering 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
